I create unique hand-made pieces of jewelry that are ready for the beach.  As a Florida-based artist, scuba-diver, treasure-hunter and jewelry-designer, I've created jewelry that endures an active life-style that includes plenty of salt water.  My bone carving references traditional tribal fishhook patterns of the South Pacific, whales, sharks, sea horses and sea creatures both real and imagined.   All my materials are selected for the beach and the sea. I also create free-form cabochon pieces and sell rough stone.

Beach Cut Jim's newest location ... J & J Gallery

James Monaco

Beach Cut Jim's display at J & J Gallery

I’m very pleased to have my work available at J&J Gallery on the Riverwalk at Lakewood Ranch. This gallery has a broad range of mediums and truly has something for everyone. Sweetgrass baskets, paintings, sculpture, fabric arts and, now, my jewelry.

The current offerings include my hand-carved bone pendants in a variety of forms. There are sharks, seahorses, hooks to protect you on the water and to bring you abundance. Some of the pieces are inlayed with jet or turquoise.

Earrings are a new creation for me and I hope that many visitors to the gallery are charmed by these little seahorses and diving Great White sharks.

Beach Cut Jim - Abalone necklaces

Another new type of necklace is my hand-formed abalone necklaces. There are two things I really love about these pieces of wearable art. First, they are adjustable, by just moving the two knots along either side of the necklace, so the wearer can make the piece a choker or a long, dangling conversation piece. The second thing I love about this collection is the brilliant, flashing color of the natural shell. The colors are astounding and constantly changing in the light.

There is one more new creation at the gallery. My Mariners Clasp bracelets. These bracelets are made from braided Italian leather and are joined by the sort of clasp you would see on a boat. The clasp is stainless steel, so no corroding or tarnishing. These are going to be popular!

Please visit the gallery and check out the artist night to visit with some of creators of the work on display.
