I create unique hand-made pieces of jewelry that are ready for the beach.  As a Florida-based artist, scuba-diver, treasure-hunter and jewelry-designer, I've created jewelry that endures an active life-style that includes plenty of salt water.  My bone carving references traditional tribal fishhook patterns of the South Pacific, whales, sharks, sea horses and sea creatures both real and imagined.   All my materials are selected for the beach and the sea. I also create free-form cabochon pieces and sell rough stone.

Sharks Teeth - but are they?

James Monaco

Great White Faux-tooth, Upper (hand-carved from repurposed beef bone)

I’ve been playing around with carving teeth. Like most of you, I oppose killing live sharks, but have always admired sharks’ teeth. The variety is astonishing. Over the years I have resisted buying teeth that clearly came from a modern shark. I love them. Buying them is morally wrong, so what to do?

“I oppose killing sharks. But I love their teeth and so came up with a solution. I carved faux-shark teeth from repurposed beef bone. Now you can enjoy them guilt-free!”

Great White Faux-tooth, Lower (hand-carved from repurposed beef bone)

I’ve carved a few different varieties. These are all hand carved by me from repurposed beef bone. I’ve even added a few holes where the blood supply to the tooth might have been. I used fossilized teeth as my model and reference point.

I hope you enjoy them!
