I create unique hand-made pieces of jewelry that are ready for the beach.  As a Florida-based artist, scuba-diver, treasure-hunter and jewelry-designer, I've created jewelry that endures an active life-style that includes plenty of salt water.  My bone carving references traditional tribal fishhook patterns of the South Pacific, whales, sharks, sea horses and sea creatures both real and imagined.   All my materials are selected for the beach and the sea. I also create free-form cabochon pieces and sell rough stone.

Bone, Shell and deer shed antler - some of the materials I use to create unique, beach-ready jewelry

Lately, I’ve been creating some unique pieces, mainly from repurposed beef bone. When correctly cut and polished that material really resembles another more traditional, and illegal, material used by sailors and South Pacific Islanders for centuries.

I use other materials, too. Abalone shell makes some beautiful necklaces and earrings. And I took a large scallop shell and carved it into a skull. This one is too big for a necklace, but it certainly is eye-catching. Some of my new work is carved from shed deer antler.

Who is your customer, Beach Cut Jim?

Getting ready to bring myself and my work to Shark Con 8 in Tampa July 2022. See you there!

One of my favorite things about my unique jewelry, is chatting with my customers and seeing my work has broad appeal. Recently I sold skeleton-hand earrings to a teen and then a carved butterfly to a women of a certain age. After that, a guy with callused hands purchased a hook. Those folks were so diverse in age, sex, profession and in every other darn way that you’d be pressed to think of anything they had in common.

But I know one thing… my hand-carved unisex jewelry.

So cool!
