I create unique hand-made pieces of jewelry that are ready for the beach. As a Florida-based artist, scuba-diver, treasure-hunter and jewelry-designer, I've created jewelry that endures an active life-style that includes plenty of salt water. My bone carving references traditional tribal fishhook patterns of the South Pacific, whales, sharks, sea horses and sea creatures both real and imagined. All my materials are selected for the beach and the sea. I also create free-form cabochon pieces and sell rough stone.

Read MoreThere is a real satisfaction in carving bone. The material responds to a saw and drill and sands beautifully. When a piece is complete it resembles ivory. People often ask me if the pendant that I make are ivory. Their second guess is plastic, heaven forbid. But they are always surprised to hear that the material I'm using is bone. Beef bone, specifically.
There is just so much plastic around now, so many things molded and pressed, that it is a shock to find something fashioned by hand. But that's what I do. I cut them and file them and sand them myself.
Each piece of bone is different in shape, color and thickness. These variables help me choose what to carve and are a reason why no two pieces ever look quite the same.
We have a nice collection of bone beads in white, brown and black colors. The accent beads are really fun, made from all sorts of natural stone, shell and metal.
